Such implementation requires a lot of investment to resolve the economic equation (#of users, range, frequency, costs, compatibility, and protocol intelligence), but meshed network can compete with DSL broadband and even mobile operator (mobile over wifi through VoIP). The transition with wimax backhaul and then end user is the current only perspective. Nokia is also targeting at traditional mobile operator to allow 3G antennas working with wimax backhaul and in the future with wimax handset.
